Join us on Saturday, February 10, at 10 a.m. for a very special tour of the soon to be opened Touchton Map Library and Florida Center for Cartographic Education at the Tampa Bay HistoryCenter. This Center is one of nine in the country and will house more than 6000 maps and charts focused primarily on Florida and the Caribbean. Local businessman Tom Touchton, the Center’s Founding Board Chair and avid collector of Florida maps, will provide a personal tour of this newest addition. The Center is nearing the completion of an 8500 square foot addition that also includes a new gallery, “Treasure Seekers: Conquistadors, Pirates & Shipwrecks.” Following the tour, we’ll gather for lunch at the Columbia Café restaurant on the premises.
Admission is free to members of the History Center or $12.95 ($10.95 for seniors). Members of AAA get a 15% discount on the annual membership fee which includes a range of benefits including a Smithsonian membership and reciprocal discounts at other museums and attractions. Space is limited so please register online early. If enough people sign up, a group discount will apply.
