“Time and Talent” Community Action Committee Initiative

1/2/2017 | Posted By: Johanne Castagan

In connection with the Community Action Committee’s (CAC) Time and Talent Call to Action Initiative, please join us on Friday afternoon, February 17, for a time and talent call to action activity at The Helen Gordon Davis Centre for Women (“The Centre for Women”), 305 S. Hyde Park Avenue. This will be a fun “community action activity” while providing much needed volunteer resources.

While we sit, talk and laugh at each other’s creativity or lack of, our task will be to help with assembling table centerpieces for The Centre for Women’s Helen Gordon Davis Waves of Change event on March 10.  We’ll start at noon and end when we we’re finished.  Any amount of time you can commit during the afternoon will be greatly appreciated. Light refreshments will be served between noon and 3 p.m.

RSVP is not necessary; however, feel free to call The Centre for Women at 251-8437 to confirm your participation.   Kem Toole and The Centre for Women staff will assist those of us lacking in creative talents and needing directions.

As most of you know, The Centre for Women was founded by Helen Gordon Davis who was a champion for women and civil rights.   Ann Madsen is the Executive Director and Athena members currently serve or have previously served on The Centre’s board. The organization’s The organization’s website is www.thecentre.org.  The centerpieces that we’ll assemble will support the Waves of Change event theme.

If this call to action activity is successful, the committee may recommend making this initiative a recurring CAC activity to benefit and showcase one of our nonprofit community organizations each year.   We hope you’ll participate in support of this CAC call to action activity.

Bonnie Carr, Chair, Community Action Committee
